Rivets and Inserts

A Rivet is a single use - therefore permanent and not reusable - mechanical fastener designed to hold assemblies together. Upon installation into a drilled or punched hole, the tail of the rivet is deformed in order to lock the rivet into place.

An Insert, or Blind Threaded Insert, is a fastener designed to be installed into an assembly that will then create an internal thread allowing a bolt or screw to be threaded into it. Often used on panels, plastic casings, housings and other such parts that would not normally allow for an internal thread to be machined into it.
